AIMSU donates relief materials to fire victims

ROING, March 19: The newly elected team of AIMSU today donated relief materials in cash and kind to fire victims of two different villages.
The house of Handi Molo of Mashelo village was completely damaged in fire at around 9:30pm on Tuesday last. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. There was no report of any casualty but property could not be saved.
The team also donated Rupees ten thousand to another fire victim, Ngapra Linggi of Denlo village, whose house too was completely burnt down by fire on Saturday last. The house was reportedly left unattended after clearing of jungle around the house. The team was also accompanied by VC RTI cell AAPSU Togeh Mepola.
Jr Engineer passes away
YINGKIONG, Mar 19: Moom Pertin (Bagra), a Junior Engineer in Hydro Power Development department of the state passed away at Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi on March 15 after prolonged illness. She was 28 only and is survived by a minor son Gebom Bagra and her husband Marge Bagra.
Her body was flown to hometown Aalo on March 16 and buried there the next day in full Galo custom and tradition.
After completing her Civil Engineering graduation from PDA College Gulbarga, Karnataka, she served as a Junior Engineer in Hydro Power Development department of the state to till her last breath.
Meanwhile, former Minister Bosiram Siram, Denong Tamuk Chief Councilor PMC along with family and relatives from Pasighat paid their last respect to the departed soul.

RUKSIN, Mar 19: Under the banner of Oyan Upper Primary School, Oyan village in East Siang, a massive tree plantation programme was launched today with planting 50 saplings of ornamental species inside 'Oiram Bori Memorial Cultural Complex'.
Launching the plantation programme, Daaying Pao said that plantation is important for saving environment from degradation. Pao, who is a Block Elementary Education Officer, explained that planting of trees not only protect the atmosphere but also rejuvenate the climate. He urged them to take proper care of the planted saplings for its survival.

Bameng exists in paper only: Forum
ITANAGAR, Mar 19: Bameng Town People's Forum (BTPF) today stated that Bameng ADC headquarters in East Kameng district has virtually turned a pitiful town with no government employees staying there. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, BTPF said that Bameng town exists in official papers only claiming and the government functionaries are abstaining from their duties. "People are silently suffering and the government infrastructures are dilapidated and ruined" it added.
Forum said that despite repeated pleas to the Deputy Commissioner East Kameng to address the issue has always fallen on deaf ears. Forum demanded the authority to give direction to all government employees posted at Bameng to stay regularly. Claiming that all the ADC headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh have been delegated with independent charges including financial power, the forum also sought for delegation of power to ADC Bameng. Apart from deployment of police force, it also demanded for uninterrupted BSNL service at Bameng.

Regional conference on multiple disabilities
NAHARALGUN, Mar 19: Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs Minister Wanglin Lowangdong said that persons with multiple disabilities have equal rights like any other citizen to maintain a quality life.
Addressing a regional conference on Multiple Disabilities held at Banquet Hall here today, Lowangdong called for a combined effort and equal participation of professionals and society at large in achieving the goal of empowering the persons with multiple disabilities. Describing the day as a red letter day for the state, the minister emphasized on inculcating hygiene sense among the people in checking various diseases in rural areas. He also appreciated the visiting officials of NEIPMD for their active participation on the issue and hoped that this would facilitate reaching to the unreached and achieving the goal.
The conference was organized by Chennai based National Institute for empowerment of persons with multiple disabilities (NIEPMD) in collaboration with Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
Parliamentary Secretary Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Karya Bagang said that the teachers and NGO's should act as guardians and play a pivotal role in tapping out talents beneath the person with disabilities. She further called upon the NGOs and similar organizations to explore the far flung areas of the state to record and identify the cases relating to multiple disabilities.
Highlighting the aims and objectives of the NEIMPD, Dr. Vijayalakshmy emphasized on proper educational and vocational programmes while understanding the persons with multiple disabilities in the remote and far flung areas of the state. On the occasion, she made a presentation on the introduction and causes associated with multiple disabilities and disability certification amid the medical practitioners and differently abled students. She informed that the NIEMPD undertakes development of human resource for management, training, rehabilitation, education, employment and social development of persons with multiple disabilities, besides promoting and conducting research in all areas relating to the issue. he informed that disability in the North East is less in comparison to other states,

In his key note address, K Kannan described the concept of disability, saying, disability is a part of human condition and can happen to anyone. He said journalists need to be careful using technically correct terminologies in their reporting. Emphasising on the Right based approach; Kannan said that persons with disability should not be victims of ‘lack of equal opportunities’, as such, human rights being universal in nature should not be divisible in terms of disability and that the subjects of disability should be treated with same opportunity.
During the technical sessions all the resource persons spoke on accessibility rights, management and disability and role of media and accessibility.
Dr. P J Mathew Martin dwelt at length on the concept of universal design media and called for a product design that is universal in nature accessible to everyone irrespective of their ability, age and status in life. Martin informed that additional aids such as closed captioning, audio description and sign language are rare in films produced in India and that such aids can help in the area of disability.
Dr. Mangesh Karandikar while addressing the participants spoke on the role of media and accessibility and stated that media should be accessible and that it should be designed in a manner that mitigates the gap between the haves and the have nots, making it accessible for all.

Discourage compensation politics, says PPA
ITANAGAR, Mar 19: The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) today called upon the people of the state to develop positive mindset and discourage the 'Compensation Politics' in whatever form in greater interest of Arunachal's development.
Addressing a party meeting on development aspects in the state including construction of the Hollongi Airport, the PPA president Kahfa Bengia said that with the tempo of development coming up at fast pace in Arunachal in the form of projects like Highways, Airport, Hydropower and introduction of railways, the people in the state should be ready with positive mindsets and shed and discourage 'Compensation Politics'.
"It is unfortunate that the much talked about proposed Airport project at Bandewdewa had to be stalled because of the sudden change of proposed project site at Hollongi along the Assam boundary where the compensation costs is estimated to be running into crores," the PPA said. However, the Party president Bengia exhorted everybody to think of only the project first as it symbolizes the state interest. "All the civil societies, student organizations and political parties should untidily exert upon the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India to start the project at the earliest, retorted Kahfa Bengia.

Pan Arunachalee Identity through saffron cap of the BJP or the Nehru cap of the Congress will only divide the Arunachalees on the lines of the party politics. While the BJP is driven by the RSS ideology of the dominances, the congress ideology is based on appeasing the minority in the name of secularism. While it is true when Rijiju says that Arunachal is land of plenty but without governance, it is equally true that the mainstream parties like the BJP and Congress themselves are responsible for reducing the state and its people to the status of slavery and serfdom.
The defective statehood bill of 1987 has snatched away everything from the control of the Arunachalees. The vast natural resources like the Jal, Jameen and Jungle, the unparalleled cultural resources are simply owned by the central govt. unlike the state of Nagaland which has been placed under article 370(A) and has full control over their underground as well as over ground resources.
Arunachal is placed under article 371(H) such a draconian provision was opposed by
the PPA and AAPSU in 1980 and 1990 but their voices were simply crushed by the so
called power political party of the mainstream of India. Although there is a late
realisation of the follies committed by the Congress leadership and moved a resolution
in state assembly for appropriate amendment of the constitution, the matter is still
pending in the cold storage of the union home ministry. Now that Rijiju is at the
helm of affairs and he has been apprised of the grievances on number of occasions,
it is therefore understood that he tables the amendment proposed in the floor of

Negligence by postal dept

There has been an utter negligence from the postal officials of Itanagar Arunachal Pradesh in delivering service to us. The department has knowingly delayed in dispatching the Passport parcel sent from Guwahati of my son Ngurang Nyakum. The letter was dispatched on 12th March 2015 from Guwahati and reached here at Itanagar on 14th March 2015 and was to reach Kimin Post Office by 15th March.
The Department purposely delayed in delivering service resulting in the hindrance of the official process for obtaining visa. The matter is a very serious issue relating to my son's professional career as he is suppose to participate in a football tournament to be held in Spain on 28 March 2015.

Mature decision
The Nagaland Government has made mature decision by deciding to hand over the investigation of the lynching of a rape accused in judicial custody by a mob at Dimapur, to the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI. The incident invited widespread attention nationally and internationally. Demands were made by several organizations, and also due to involvement of large number of people in the incident, the government decided to hand over the case to CBI.
